COVID-19 #6

I would like to report that Groveland only has one (1) new positive case of COVID-19 bringing the total in Groveland to eight (8) cases.

The Boards of Selectmen and Health wish to thank all residents for following the Stay-at-Home orders and social & physical distancing. Even though our numbers are low, we ask everyone to please stay vigilant in their efforts to only go out for essential business.  We are nearing the reported surge and staying home is more critical than ever.

Please be advised the Board of Selectmen have voted to reschedule the Annual Town Meeting to Monday, June 8, 2020 and the Annual Town Election to Monday, June 15, 2020. More information will be forthcoming on these. But, please know, all statutory deadlines remain, therefore, the town meeting warrant is closed and the election ballot is closed.

The Water and Sewer Department have asked that folks stop flushing wipes down the toilet as they are clogging the sewer system.

We have been asked to remind residents that Whitestone Village is private property and using their facility for recreational purposes is not allowed.

The Town would like to thank Paul Burnim and Applied Graphics who made face shields for the Police and Fire Departments. In addition, we would like to thank Jeff Perillo and Andy Cox, both of whom donated masks to the Fire Department.

We would like to offer our profound gratitude to all the nurses and doctors working around the clock to battle this virus. To the police, fire, and EMTs, we say a huge thank you for being the first responders of this pandemic. To grocery store workers, we are beyond grateful for your dedication and efforts to continue to provide for our residents.

We ask that all residents continue to observe the physical and social distancing requirements and the stay-at-home order and together we will get through this.

Stay safe and well. Thank you.

COVID-19 Statement #5

Please be advised, that as of today, Groveland has seven (7) positive cases of COVID-19 affecting six (6) different households. The Public Health Nurse has been in contact with the residents and continues to monitor the situation.

Yesterday afternoon, the Board of Selectmen and Board of Health held their weekly joint COVID-19 meeting. The Boards would like to stress the importance of the stay-at-home-order. This pandemic is expected to surge over the next two weeks, and positive cases are predicted to grow dramatically. We urge everyone to please take this seriously!

If you must go out, please only go out for essential business and always practice social and physical distancing. If you are out for a walk and see someone coming, step aside, cross the street, and do your part to distance from everyone. Play dates should not be occurring, sleepovers should not be occurring, and children should only be associating with your direct household members.

Please be advised the real estate tax bills and water/sewer bills have been mailed out. Late fees on these bills will be waived until further notice.  Payments for the tax or water bills may be made online through our website, by mail, or through the drop box at town hall. Please note, the discount date on the water/sewer bills, is still in effect and will be honored through April 15th.

Due to this pandemic, the Yard Waste site will NOT be opening on April 1st. Once the Governor lifts the state-wide restrictions, we will provide a new opening date.

Due to increased concerns for Waste Management worker safety, we ask that residents place all household trash in bags before setting them at the curb for collection. Please ensure that all bags are properly sealed to prevent contents from spilling. REMINDER: latex gloves go in the trash – NOT in your recycling container.

The Town would like to extend a huge thank you to Kurt Gauthier of Gauthier Insulation of Ipswich, who donated masks to the Groveland Fire Department. We would also like to thank the Pentucket School District for providing the disinfectant fog equipment and staff to clean the Police and Fire Station, town hall and the library.

For relevant information, there is a new tab on the top of our website with COVID-19 info.

We ask all residents to continue to observe the physical and social distancing requirements and the stay-at-home order.

Stay safe and well! Thank you!

COVID-19 Statement #3

The Board of Selectmen held an emergency meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 3pm to discuss the Town’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that meeting the board implemented some new protocols that will go into effect until further notice.

Beginning on Monday, March 23rd the Board of Selectmen will hold a COVID-19 meeting every Monday at 4:30pm to continue to review the way the town is handling and responding to this world-wide pandemic. Going forward each Tuesday, I will be putting out a statement and sending out a town-wide call with any updates or new information. While we are cautious to not overwhelm residents, we feel regular communications will be helpful to keep folks up-to-date with the Town’s response to this virus. The health and safety of our residents and employees is our top priority.

Please keep in mind that all recreational areas in town are closed because we need to do something to stop groups from congregating. While we encourage residents to get outside and get some fresh air, we cannot continue to have groups of people at the playgrounds, playing basketball or soccer, or hanging out at the dog park together.  These steps being taken are to keep all residents safe.

During these unsettled times, we ask folks to please check in on your elderly neighbors. If they need groceries or rides to medical appointments, please call the Council On Aging at (978) 372-1101.  We can also deliver non-perishable food items from our pantry and staff will make well-being phone checks to anyone in need.  Help is always available and is just a phone call away.

As a reminder, all town offices are closed to the public and the police station lobby is open for emergencies only. Please visit our website for additional information on our online services.

Thank you, please stay well, safe, and healthy.
