COVID-19 Statement #12

Since my last statement, Groveland has six (6) new positive cases of COVID-19 bringing the total in Groveland to twenty-seven (27) cases.  Of those twenty-seven (27) cases, we have ten (10) homes currently under quarantine.

The Highway Yard Waste site will continue to be open on Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. This is available only to Groveland residents and you will be required to show your vehicle’s registration upon entry.

We would like to remind folks that Town Meeting is coming up on Monday, June 8th and the election on Monday, June 15th.  We are still working out the logistics of both and that information will be forthcoming. I would like to remind voters the application to vote by mail, in the upcoming local election, is available on our website.  For the safety of all residents, we strongly encourage voters to take advantage of this opportunity.

As businesses slowly start to reopen, please stay vigilant with your social and physical distancing, continue to wear a mask when you are unable to stay 6 feet away, and please be mindful of others.

Stay safe and well. Thank you.

COVID-19 Statement #11

Since my last statement, Groveland has seven (7) new positive cases of COVID-19 bringing the total in Groveland to twenty-one (21) cases. Of those twenty-one (21) cases, ten (10) are currently active.

Please be advised, if you have tested positive or if you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive, you are required to quarantine for 14-days or until you no longer have symptoms. Quarantine means you should be staying in your home or on your property. You should not be going for walks, going to the store, hanging out with neighbors, or going to work. Please stay home to save lives.

Unfortunately, under these circumstances, we made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Summer Recreation Program. Given the pandemic, we feel there is just no way to proceed with the camp this year and also keep staff, counselors, and campers safe. We look forward to having the program back in 2021. More information and refunds will be forthcoming to those who have already signed up.

The Highway Yard Waste site will be open again on Saturday, May 16th from 8am to 2pm. This is available only to Groveland residents and you will be required to show your vehicle’s registration upon entry.

Once again, we would like to remind voters the application to vote by mail, in the upcoming local election, is available here.  For the safety of all residents, we strongly encourage voters to take advantage of this opportunity.  Applications may be emailed to the Town Clerk at ecunniff@grovelandma.com, dropped off at Town Hall, or mailed to Town Clerk, 183 Main Street, Groveland, MA 01834.  For questions on early voting, please contact Beth, the Town Clerk at 978-556-7221.

This week, I would like to thank all the municipal employees, who have had to adapt to working from home, or working in a limited environment, conducting remote meetings, and doing their best to continue to safely serve our residents.

As always, I thank everyone for their ongoing efforts and ask you continue social and physical distancing.

Stay safe and well. Thank you.

COVID-19 Statement #10

Since my last statement, Groveland has three (3) new positive cases of COVID-19 bringing the total in Groveland to fourteen (14) cases. Of those fourteen (14) cases, three (3) are currently active with 3 houses under known quarantine.

As of tomorrow, May 6, 2020, the Governor has implemented an order requiring face masks or cloth face coverings in public places when social distancing is not possible. This applies to both indoor and outdoor spaces.  Exceptions include children under the age of 2 and those unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition. Violations of this order may result in a civil fine by the Board of Health of up to $300 per violation. This order shall remain in effect until rescinded by the Governor.

Please be advised, we will be opening the Highway Yard Waste site for the next two Saturdays, May 9th and May 16th from 8am to 2pm. This is available only to Groveland residents and you will be required to show your vehicle’s registration upon entry. Our highway staff will be working to manage the site and to keep everyone safe. Please be patient as we expect a large number of residents to take advantage of these two days. We will revisit the site’s hours after May 18th.

We would like to remind voters the application to vote by mail, in the upcoming local election, is available on our website.  For the safety of all residents, we strongly encourage all voters to take advantage of this opportunity. Find the application here.

Also as a reminder, Whitestone Village is private property and using their facility for recreational purposes is not allowed.

This week, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, I would like to recognize all our teachers. Over these last few months, teachers have had to adapt to conducting remote learning sessions and trying to assist their students to the best of their abilities. We truly appreciate all you have done. In addition, I would like to recognize all the parents, who have had to become at-home teachers. It is not easy balancing work life, home life, and now teaching into your daily schedules. I applaud you all for your dedication, patience, and hard work during these last ten weeks.

We ask residents to continue to observe the social and physical distancing and I thank everyone for their ongoing efforts.

Stay safe and well. Thank you.

COVID-19 Statement #9

Since our last statement, Groveland has one (1) new positive case of COVID-19 bringing the total in Groveland to eleven (11) cases. Of those eleven (11) cases, three (3) are currently active.

For everyone’s safety, we would like folks who are out walking on streets without sidewalks, to walk facing the traffic.  Pedestrians should be walking in the same direction on side roads.

We would like to remind voters that the Annual Town Meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 8th and the Annual Town Election is Monday, June 15th. For this election, the Town would like to strongly encourage residents to submit an application to vote by mail.  The State passed special legislation that allows both Absentee Voting and Early Voting BY MAIL for this Local Election. More information and the application for Voting By Mail can be found here.

We would like to thank Stephen Olson from Houghton Chemical Corporation in Allston, who donated a five (5) gallon container of hand sanitizer to the Police Station.

We would like to thank Groveland residents Lisa O’Connor and Tanya and Rick Norris for donating masks to the Council on Aging.  We would also like to thank all residents, who have made donations to town departments. Even the smallest gestures have made a huge impact on the employees, so we thank all of you.

This week I would like to give a shout out to all the High School and College Seniors. Senior Year should be so memorable and magical with events and milestones culminating with graduation. Unfortunately, this year will be remembered for other reasons and those celebratory moments have been postponed or cancelled. To the Class of 2020, we celebrate and honor you and all your achievements.

Groveland residents have been doing a phenomenal job staying home and safe. While we wait to see what the Governor does after May 4th, we ask residents to be patient and continue to observe the social and physical distancing.  We thank everyone for their ongoing efforts.

Stay safe and well. Thank you.
