Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Program
Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Program
The Town of Groveland was awarded a grant through the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) in June 2019 for the MVP planning phase, enabling the Town to work on locally relevant and prioritized vulnerability assessments with citizen and staff feedback.
A core team meeting took place in September 2019, and a full-day workshops was held on December 5, 2019. The workshop was conducted with Town Departments and key stakeholders within and around the community.
The planning process culminated in a public listening session. All Groveland community members and residents were invited to share their concerns about the local effects of climate change and talk about how we can work together to be more prepared. The report can be found in the documents to the right.
In FY2022 the Town received a second award to perform a vulnerability study relative to potential future climate change conditions within the Johnsons Creek Watershed.
The Johnsons Creek Watershed has several areas of potential flood risk . The purpose of this grant was to perform a detailed watershed-wide vulnerability study relative to potential future climate change conditions. The final report can be found in the documents to the right.
In FY2024 the Town of Groveland was awarded a third grant to improve resiliency in the Johnson Creek Watershed by designing a new culvert at Lower Center Street and designing and constructing a bioretention area to capture runoff from a Town-owned parking lot.
