Town of Groveland Receives $191,150 Planning Grant From State

GROVELAND – Town Administrator Rebecca Oldham is pleased to announce that the Town of Groveland has been awarded a $191,150 Community One Stop for Growth grant.

The Town will use the grant to begin a review and assessment of potential uses of the 62-acre Strawberry Fields site on Center Street. The heavily wooded parcel is zoned for both commercial and industrial use. Portions are currently used for passive recreation.

As part of this effort, the Town will initiative a feasibility study of site options, including a civil engineering review and market analysis. This will lead to the creation of a master plan for the site.

Town leaders will offer multiple opportunities for community stakeholders to share their questions and suggestions with the Town to develop the best possible vision for the parcel.

The Town was one of 169 communities to receive a One-Stop grant on Oct. 26. In total, the Baker-Polito Administration awarded $143 million to support 337 local economic development projects.

“This grant money will allow the Town to fully explore all options for Strawberry Fields, and identify uses that will allow Groveland to make a thoughtful determination on how we move forward, while also protecting the aquifer and preserving the natural characteristics of the Town,” Town Administrator Oldham said.
