Town of Groveland Offers Residents Home Compost Bins Ahead of Spring

GROVELAND – Town Administrator Rebecca Oldham is pleased to announce that the Town of Groveland is offering free home compost bins to residents thanks to state funding support.

Groveland has purchased 20 home compost bins for residents with funding provided by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection as part of the Recycling Dividends Program.

Compost bins are offered to help support waste reduction in town by reducing the volume of trash that enters the waste system. The bins are free and are available to residents while supplies last.

Additionally, the Groveland compost yard will open on Saturday, April 1, and remain open through Nov. 30. The yard is located at the Highway Garage, 160 Center St., and will be open Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The compost yard accepts leaves and grass clippings, and brush that is smaller than 3 inches in diameter. Sticks, branches, roots, dirt, plastic bags, trunks, and garbage will not be accepted.

The yard waste/compost site is for residents only and is not for commercial use. Drivers licenses will be checked prior to drop-off.

To reserve a home compost bin or to receive more information please contact Town Administrator Oldham at ROldham@grovelandma.com.
