Town of Groveland Awarded $143,666 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant

GROVELAND – Town Administrator Rebecca Oldham is pleased to announce that the Town of Groveland has been awarded a $143,666 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Action Grant.

The grant will be used for the continuation of the Johnson Watershed Flood Resiliency Project. The project involves implementing flood mitigation at several locations in the Johnson Creek Watershed, which will then providewildlife passage and habitat, stream and bank restoration, water quality benefits, increase resiliency, and improve public safety during future storms.

MVP Action Grants, which are a part of the state’s Climate Resiliency Funding, are awarded to municipalities who are working to address and mitigate the impact of climate change. Communities are implementing proactive strategies to improve mature-based solutions for extreme heat and flooding, and climate resilience-focused regulatory updates.

The Johnson Watershed Flood Resiliency Project is one of 79 projects across the state that was awarded funding.

“I would like to thank the Healey-Driscoll Administration for awarded us this funding,” said Town Administrator Rebecca Oldham. “This funding will allow us to continue working to mitigate and eventually eliminate flooding at the Johnson Watershed locations. This project will help us remain climate-friendly while keeping the environment and our communitysafe.”
