Hazard Mitigation Plan
Hazard Mitigation Plan
A Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) has the goal to reduce loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters through prior proper planning techniques. The HMP develops long-term strategies for protecting people and property from natural disasters. The HMP must be updated every 5 years.
The Town is working with the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) to update the Town’s HMP. This process involves multiple meetings with stakeholders and municipal employees, as well as community information sessions and, eventually, surveys.
Once the Plan has been updated, the Town will be able to begin work on the implementation of the goals listed in the Plan. This will include applying for grants for further infrastructure improvements.
Funding
Funding Source: FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Grant (Federal)
Funding Received: $57,450 (these funds are for the entire project which include the entire Merrimack Valley Region)
