GROVELAND – Director Alyssa Lee and Assistant Director Nisha Burke are pleased to share Groveland Council on Aging’s September programs and events.
The Groveland Council on Aging offers senior residents a variety of programs and events monthly. This month’s activities include:
Thursday Sept. 14: Jedi Mind Tricks to Fight Anxiety
This event will feature speakers Rickey Silverman and Bill Cashman, who will teach practical strategies to help overcome anxiety including meditation and rituals and reframing anxious thoughts.
The event is free and will be held in the Town Hall Center Meeting room, 183 Main St., at 10:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Monday, Sept. 18: Discover Ebooks
The Groveland COA and the Langley Adams Library are offering residents a chance to learn about accessing electronic books on various devices.
The event is free and will be held at the Town Hall back meeting room, 183 Main St., starting at 10:30 a.m. Residents should bring their own devices.
Tuesday, Sept. 19: Ping Pong and Corn Hole
Ping-pong and corn hole games will be held under the tent at 181 Main St.
The event is free for seniors and will begin at 1 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 21: Coffee and Conversation
Get to know the Groveland COA staff by joining them for a cup of coffee. This event is free and will be held in the Town Hall Center Meeting Room at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 26: Trip to Kittery, ME
The Groveland COA is offering van trips to Kittery, ME for $15 per person. The day will include lunch at Warren’s Lobster House and shopping. Lunch is not covered in the price of travel and individuals will be responsible for covering their own lunch.
To reserve a spot, call the Groveland COA at 978-372-101. The COA Van leaves from Town Hall at 10:45 a.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 26: Movie ‘Death on the Nile’
Tuesday movie night will feature ‘Death on the Nile’ starring Kenneth Branagh and Gal Gadot. The movie will be shown at 11 a.m. in the Center Meeting Room at Town Hall.
Additionally, the Groveland COA would like to remind residents of the variety of programs offered to seniors throughout the year:
- Game Dayis held every Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Center Meeting room. Games include Rummikub, Scrabble and the COA is seeking new members for Bridge and Mahjong.
- 3B Fitness (Brains, Bones, Balance)classes are offered every Tuesday at 9 a.m. hosted by Bryan C. under the tent outside the Public Safety Building, 181 Main St. Each class is $5.
- Yoga is $5 per class and is held in the Town Hall Center Meeting Room every Friday starting at 10:45 a.m.
- Groveland COA Food Pantry offers fresh and frozen food to seniors. The food pantry is open Wednesdays, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
- Traveling Chef Meal is a free service offered by Groveland COA in conjunction with Agespan that gives cooked meals to seniors. Delivery is free for the first 45 callers. Call the COA for more information or to reserve your spot.
- Mobile Market, free grocery delivery service.
- Meals on Wheels, call the COA 978-372-1101, to arrange assistance.
